Album Poster - 1st draft

I started my first draft of the album poster with the colour scheme of purple and blue, we were yet to do a photo shoot for the poster so I used a behind the scene picture of the location we filmed in Southbank. I've established the font I wanted to use and the colour scheme, the font used for the track list is 'Absurdsans' I found this font through the website Dafont.com I felt the disjointed letters corresponded with the effects in our music video.

2nd Draft

For the second draft of the album poster I included the essentials of what is needed in an album promo poster. This includes tracklist, artist name, picture of the artist and he album cover. In this draft I decided to incorporate even more colours as inspired by Frank Oceans - Pyramid music video. The picture of the artist was from our photoshoot for the ancillary products, I found that the distorted effect on the picture could connect to the effects in our music video, I wanted the connection of the ancillary products and the music video to be evident. I decided to keep the background the same as the first draft because the graffitied wall resonates with an urban feel and the R&B genre, the border was added to maintain the main focus of the poster on the artist.

I used Adobe Photoshop CS5 to create both of my ancillary products as I have had previous experiences with it for recreational uses. Most effects I have used in the process of making my ancillary products I have used before I haven't experimented too much with other functions as I have knowledge of the basics as well as extra functions.

Final Product

This is the final edit for my album poster. I changed direction of the colour scheme and wanted a more prismatic effect made so I used fluorescent pink and orange as the main colours of the poster. I also changed the picture I wanted to use as I felt this picture gave a much more mysterious vibe additionally i included more information in the poster in contrast to previous edits. In this edit I added the artists website, album rating, social media logos and QR code which directs to his website.  I also liked how the album poster picture contrast with the album cover as the artist body is faced at opposite sides from each other.

 Digipak - 1st draft (Drawn)

Before using Adobe Photoshop CS5 to create the digipak I first decided to plan out how I wanted it to look like on paper. My first draft included basic sketches of the position of the images as well as text.

Digipak - 2nd draft (Drawn)

For my second draft I changed the position of the images, experimenting how I could improve the aesthetic of the digipak. I then began including more album information such as our production logo and the barcode.

 Digipak - 3rd draft (Drawn)

For the last drawn draft of the digipak I decided to be more simplistic in style and included less of the images of the artist.

Digipak - 1st draft (Photoshop)

Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 I made my first draft for our digipak. At first the colour scheme was dark but the use of different vibrant colours were made obvious, although the pictures for the front cover and extra panel was not as high quality as I wanted.

2nd Draft (Photoshop)
With our second draft I changed the front cover and extra panel images from our second photo session, theses pictures are much more clearer and defined, also the colours of the inside left and inside right images have been altered to be more brighter so the distortion of the images are clearly shown, the inside centre have also been changed to a bright magenta to add more variety in colour of the digipak.

Final Product

This is our final edit of the digipak. I have made several changes to the digipak, first of all I decided to change the colour of the inside right panel to magenta to contrast the inside left panel and the distortions for the inside left panel has been changed so the distorted image is upside down in contrast to the original image. Furthermore the image for the CD have been changed to was used to be the image used for the inside centre from the second draft, the inside centre is made black in the final edit to balance out all the vibrant colours in the digipak and to isolate the CD so it is focused. Additional text was added to the inside left and the extra panel, lyrics from the song right track was used, I decided to use a distorted filter for the text so it merged with the background almost as if it was projected onto him. The number on the back cover have been darkened so the number are made to be more transparent again with merging with the background as if it part of the waves.
